South superstar Rajinikanth was admitted to Apollo Hospital in Hyderabad over fluctuating blood pressure on Friday. He is “progressing well”, said a medical bulletin on Saturday morning.
The 70-year-old actor-politician is being monitored closely and would undergo further examination today.
Rajinikanth has taken ill merely days after the shooting of his Tamil film ‘Annaatthe’ was suspended as four people on the set tested positive for COVID-19. The actor had tested negative for the virus on December 22.
According to a statement issued by the hospital, the actor had an uneventful night but his blood pressure is still on the higher side, although under better control than it was on Friday.
“He is scheduled for a further set of investigations today, reports of which will be available by the evening,” the statement said.
The hospital has advised complete rest for the star and visitors are not allowed to meet him.
