Slowing Heart Disease
At South Denver Cardiology, we’ve always been focused on innovation while ensuring that the programs, resources, and technologies we offer are cutting edge while and proven effective. That’s why we’re so proud to announce that we have become the first Cardiac Rehab site to provide the Pritikin ICR program in Colorado.
Intensive Cardiac Rehab
Pritikin ICR is based on the Pritikin Program, which has been taught to more than 100,000 individuals for over 40 years with exceptional results. By becoming certified in this program, our team will be able to provide support and education that will make committing to a new, healthier lifestyle much more straightforward. Your team will consist of experts in the fields of exercise, medicine, nutrition, and mental health to fulfill the comprehensive requirements of this program. Unlike traditional cardiac rehab programs, Pritikin ICR takes a holistic look at the factors that contribute to heart health. The program is comprised of up to 72 sessions as opposed to the typical 36 that other Cardiac Rehab programs include.
A Comprehensive Approach
As we work together on exercise, healthy mindset, and an eating plan focused on whole clean foods, you’ll learn about the different components of your life, and how they all contribute to your cardiac health and healing. At the South Denver Heart Center, you’ll experience medically supervised exercise to help create the most effective plan for you and your specific cardiac needs. You will receive the education that focuses on an eating plan specifically designed to reduce heart disease. You’ll learn how your mental, physical, and emotional health plays a part in risk factors. You will develop the necessary tools to live a heart-healthy lifestyle for the rest of your life.
When Is It Right For Me?
Deciding whether or not a program like this is right for you may depend on a variety of factors. If you are a Medicare patient and have experienced one or more of the following events, you may qualify.
- Acute myocardial infarction (within the preceding 12 months)
- Coronary artery bypass surgery
- Percutaneous transluminal coronary angioplasty or stenting procedure
- Current stable angina pectoris
- Systolic Heart Failure
- Heart or heart-lung transplant
- Heart valve repair or replacement
If you carry commercial insurance, work with your company to determine what level of coverage you might have. Many companies offer reimbursement for ICR.
